Murder charges laid after man dies after bar fight

A Windsor man faces a charge of second-degree murder after a man died from injuries after a fight.

Windsor police said the altercation happened outside a bar in the area of Seminole Street and Tourangeau Road around midnight on September 23.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim semi-conscious but breathing. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The other man involved in the fight ran from the scene before police arrived, but after police spoke with witnesses, they identified a suspect and arrested him around 1:30 a.m. the same day. The man was charged with assault causing bodily harm.

However, the victim died in the hospital on Sunday, and police reclassified the investigation as a homicide.

Ryan Taylor, 31, is now charged with second-degree murder. The charge has not been proven in court.

The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit still considers the matter an active investigation.
