Suspect charged after driver threatened

A Lasalle man has been charged with threatening a driver who was stopped in traffic earlier this month.

Windsor police said the incident happened on the afternoon of September 2 on Huron Church Road near Girardot Street. The victim was sitting in his vehicle, which was stopped in heavy traffic when a man suddenly approached him with a baseball bat and threatened him. The suspect then damaged the victim's car with the bat and walked away from the scene.

No injuries were reported, but because traffic was stopped at the time, police were confident there were witnesses. Surveillance photos of a suspect were also released.

The suspect was identified and arrested without incident on Monday, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.

Jonathan Benson, 36, has been charged with threats to cause death, mischief under $5,000, and possession of a dangerous weapon. These charges have not been proven in court.

Windsor police would like to thank the public for its help in resolving this matter.
