Firefighters were called to a home on Hall Avenue between Cataraqui Street and Niagara Street around 8 p.m.
The owner of the home, Eugene Filice, told BlackburnNews.com the fire started in the kitchen and he attempted to put it out.
A damage estimate has not been released.
