Sleeping driver leads to drugs, weapons seizure

The Windsor Police Service is crediting an alert citizen after the arrest of an alleged impaired driver.

Police said they were called to the area of Wyandotte Street East and Parent Avenue around noon on Saturday. The caller reported that the driver of a parked vehicle with the engine running appeared to be unconscious.

Police officers arrived and found a woman asleep at the wheel. They were able to wake up the driver and she appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Police arrested the driver without incident. Officers also found fentanyl, cocaine, and crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle as well as two prohibited weapons.

Nicole Arner, 33, is facing charges of impaired operation of a vehicle, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, and failing to comply with a release order. None of the charges have been proven in court.
