Kingsville to reopen beaches Friday

Now that the region is in Stage 3, the Town of Kingsville is officially reopening its beaches.

They will open at 9 a.m. Friday.

Right now, only the water at Cedar Island Beach and Cedar Beach will have samples taken weekly. Signs will be posted indicating safe levels for swimming or a potential health risk to the public.

Swimming is not recommended at other beaches in the municipality.

The washrooms at the beaches will open a little earlier. They reopen at 7 a.m. Friday and will close nightly at 9 p.m.

"While it is equally important to recognize that COVID-19 hasn't gone away, I want to reiterate the importance of everyone continuing to follow public health advice," said Mayor Nelson Santos.

Safety measures will be posted on-site, and the public is asked to adhere to all guidelines.
