Only one new confirmed case in Windsor-Essex

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit is reporting only one new case of COVID-19.

The new confirmed case is a worker in the agricultural sector.

"I'd like to see this trend continue, and I would like to thank everyone for following all those measures that we've been asking them to follow," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed, the medical officer of health for Windsor Essex.

He said recent figures are much more reasonable for a community the size of Windsor-Essex.

"I would like to still urge caution to continue to follow the same measures to keep these numbers at this level. I think, based on some of the messaging that we have done in the last couple of weeks, our community, I want to give credit to them, is doing better than we have before," said Dr. Ahmed.

The health unit also added over 500 people to the resolved cases list for a total of 1,955 resolved cases. That leaves 325 confirmed active cases in the community.
