Windsor man charged with cocaine trafficking

An investigation by Windsor police has resulted in one man facing charges and cocaine being taken off the streets.

The WPS Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit began an investigation in March concerning the sale of drugs in the city. During the four-month probe, a suspect was identified. Police say the suspect was using several different vehicles to sell cocaine. A warrant was obtained to search a home and one of the suspect vehicles.

A 28-year-old Windsor man was located on Thursday and taken into custody. A home on Dougall Avenue south of Norfolk Street was then searched, and officers found 186.2 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $18,620.

Police also seized a total of $19,785 in Canadian cash.

Namir Zec is facing a total of 11 charges, including multiple counts of cocaine possession with the intent to sell, and possession of stolen property. These charges have not been proven in court.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4361. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
