Windsor police seek owner of recovered tires

Investigators are hoping to reunite someone with some tires that were believed to have been stolen.

Windsor police were called Monday to a location on Baseline Road and the 7th Concession, near Windsor Airport, due to a complaint about suspicious activity.

Officers recovered a stolen trailer, which had inside 16 brand new tires, worth about $4,000.

Police believe the tires were also stolen, and are trying to find the rightful owner. The trailer has been returned.

"It is possible that the tires were taken from a business or storage area, and the rightful owner has yet to discover the theft," said Sergeant Steve Betteridge. "Business owners are encouraged to check their inventories and storage facilities."

Once the owner has been located, police say they will help further the ongoing investigation.

Anyone who may have had new tires stolen recently, or can provide information about this case, is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4350. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
