The public is invited to go to Dieppe Park tonight to learn more about the plight of victims of human trafficking.
Demonstrators will gather under the big Canadian flag at the foot of Ouellette Avenue at 5:45 p.m. Those who go are asked to wear blue and yellow. Blue signifies the children who are trafficked every year across North America. Yellow represents the group hosting the demonstration, Operation Underground Railroad.
Vicki Prince is a demonstration leader who told BlackburnNews.com the event is intended to raise public awareness.
"This is a very heavy and dark issue. A lot of people will turn a blind eye. They don't want to think of it because it hurts," she said. "But if we turn a blind eye, these children, they will not be rescued. They are living in hell on Earth."
A member of the Windsor Police Services will speak about her experience investigating human trafficking in the city.
The group will march from the flag to Riverfront Festival Plaza and back again.
Prince said there are demonstrations today across the U.S. and Canada to mark the United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
