Arrest made in theft of yard tools

Windsor police have arrested a suspect after yard tools were stolen from a south Walkerville home.

Officers were called on July 21 to a home on Ypres Avenue near Windemere Road. The complainant told police someone had stolen $400 worth of yard tools from their garage, which was left open.

The suspect was seen from surveillance footage taken near the scene, and it showed the man entering the garage and taking the tools. A witness confronted the man who took off on a bicycle with the stolen items.

On Wednesday around noon, officers on bicycle patrol in downtown Windsor were flagged down by someone who saw a man matching the photo released by police. The man was located and arrested without incident.

The man, who has not been identified, was charged with break-and-enter, then released on an undertaking with a future court date.
