The sorting from last week's June 27th Miracle is complete in LaSalle, and now the donations are heading to the community.
The Miracle, which likely set a record for the largest one-day food drive, brought in a whopping two million pounds of food and toiletries. About 340,000 pounds were picked up in the town of LaSalle, and according to a media release, that's enough to supply the LaSalle Youth Hangout and the St. Andrew's Food Bank with enough food to last two years.
In addition, non-profit agencies that will benefit from the donations include Maryvale, Transition 2 Betterness, the Windsor Residence for Young Men, St. Vincent de Paul Society, The Inn, Erie Wildlife Rescue, Brentwood, Matthew House, The House of Sophrosyne, Al-Hijra Mosque, Harrow Animal Rescue & Shelter, Street Help, The Welcome Centre for Women, Men United for God, The Multi-Cultural Counsel, Southpoint Community Church, and Guadeloupe House. About one hundred families in need are also receiving benefits.
Some people who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will be given a lifeline on Thursday morning. The LaSalle Miracle community has invited laid-off Caesars Windsor employees, as well as those in the wedding and event industries, to stop by the Westpoint Marina on Front Road to pick up a Miracle Bag of donations.

Organizers of the Windsor-Essex Miracle had believed the event set a world record for the most food donations collected in one day, though the Guinness Book of Records has not officially recognized the event.
