Some residents in Lakeshore living along Lake St. Clair are experiencing flooding.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority has upgraded its flood watch to a flood warning for residents in Lakeshore. The watch remains in effect for Windsor and Tecumseh residents.
Town of Lakeshore crews are erecting barricades, monitoring all pumps and drains and patrolling the area. The municipality is also offering free sandbags to residents living along the water.
Residents can attend the Atlas Tube Centre with identification to obtain up to 100 sandbags. Sand is available at the former Belle River Arena, Lighthouse Cove Lion's Park, Golfview Waterfront Parkette and Gracey Sideroad at Lakeshore Road 301.
Lakeshore is also asking residents to ensure that catch basins and other drainage areas are free from debris.
Winds are anticipated to slow down around 8 p.m. which will permit the water to subside.
Police have also closed Caille Avenue and are reminding drivers to avoid driving through roads submerged in water.
