Spitfires trampled by Colts 5-3

The Windsor Spitfires suffered a 5-3 loss against the Barrie Colts on Saturday.

Egor Afanasyev and Luke Boka helped the team lead with two goals not even 5 minutes into the first period. Barrie quickly tied things up by adding two goals of their own.

It was a slow start into second, but the Spitfires were able to edge the Colts 3-2 10:15 into the frame. The Colts wasted no time and helped themselves to another two goals putting themselves in the lead. Heading into the third period Windsor lost momentum, Barrie scored a fifth goal to secure their victory.

Both of the Spitfires goaltenders made an appearance. Kari Piiroinen made six saves out of 10 shots on net.  Xavier Medina stepped in during the second half of the game saving 10 of 11 shots.

Windsor will hit the road again to play the Oshawa Generals on Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
