It's a girl! Windsor welcomes first baby of 2020

Meet Ariah Knelsen, the city's newest Windsorite.

The baby girl was the first to be born at Windsor Regional Hospital in 2020, also giving her the distinction of being the first baby born in the new decade.

Ariah arrived around 4 a.m. on January 1, weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces. She is the first child of parents Trudy and Isaak Knelsen.

"It was emotional and wonderful," said Trudy. "I've been waiting for a long time. I wanted her out really bad."

Trudy said her water broke almost exactly at midnight on New Year's Eve.

"The first baby of the decade is cool," she said. "It's definitely different, I didn't think that would happen."
