Youth facing multiple charges

A youth is facing several charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and evading arrest.

Windsor police responded to an alarm on Tecumseh Road near Penang Lane around midnight Tuesday. When they arrived, a silver Mercedes was seen leaving the area in a hurry. Police tried to stop the vehicle but it took off in a dangerous manner.

Police discovered the vehicle had been stolen from the property.

Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to Grandview Street for a call involving the stolen vehicle. Witnesses said the car left the area and hit three parked vehicles in the process. Police located and tried to stop the car but the vehicle fled. They started to pursue the vehicle but soon stopped for public safety.

The vehicle was later found on Rivard Street.

Police eventually caught up with a suspect at a residence on Grandview Street. Investigators believe he was also responsible for a number of other recently reported crimes.

The youth is charged with break and enter, attempted break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, attempted theft of a motor, possession of stolen property, failing to stop for polic,e and dangerous driving.

He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
