Lakeview Park Marina to close indefinitely

An east Windsor marina will close until further notice starting Wednesday.

The City of Windsor announced Tuesday that Lakeview Park Marina will be shut down completely to allow crews to begin tearing out the current docks, which is the next step in preparing to install new floating docks.

The closure will include the entire main parking lot where the launch ramps are located, according to the city. The lot on the east side of the marina near Lilly Kazilly's Restaurant will close as well. Patrons can still park in the lot on the south side of Riverside Drive East.

Gates will also be placed at the marina entrance on Riverside East.

The city said the closing is a safety precaution, allowing workers unlimited and unimpeded access to the work area.

The marina's docks were shut down for the season in May for safety reasons after record-high lake and river waters caused serious damage. The water levels completely submerged the docks as well as the hydro boxes.

Windsor City Council put aside $3 million for the project, though the work may cost more than originally thought.
