Former teammates of Charles Rogers say the former wide-receiver for Michigan State and the Detroit Lions has died.
The Detroit Free Press says Rogers was 38.
He played for Michigan State from 2000 to 2002 before the Lions drafted him in 2003.
With the Lions, he appeared in just 15 games because of injuries and suspensions under the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Former Michigan State and NFL tight-end Chris Baker tweeted condolences this morning on Twitter.

Sports reporters also remembered Rogers.

Not sure why I remember this, but I watched Charles Rogers' NFL debut from an Ann Arbor sports bar (Damon's, maybe?). He scored two TDs. The Lions rolled the Cardinals. People went *nuts*. Rogers! Harrington! This was the pairing!

Rogers was a native of Saginaw, Michigan.
