Multiple fire units battled a large church fire on Windermere Road near Cataraqui Street.
Initial reports of the fire at the Walkerville Evangelic Baptist Church came in around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire conditions. However, Windsor Fire is reporting that everyone made it out of the building safely.
As a result, residents in the area were asked to close their windows and shelter in place.
Around 4:05 p.m. Windsor Fire confirmed that the fire had been knocked down and was under control, but were still dealing with some hot spots.
