Murchadha House in Cottam taking shape

A home for those with exceptional needs in Cottam is celebrating a generous donation and a new roof.

Murchadha House is still under construction but received a $10,000 donation from 100 Women Who Care. The O'Neil Foundation also donated funding.

The non-profit charity builds homes for people with intellectual disabilities and the home in Cottam is their first in Windsor-Essex. The house on Fox Street will accommodate four youth, and Community Living Essex County will provide the staff.

The region has a shortage of housing for those who require support in their daily living, and Murchadha House is trying to shorten existing waiting lists.

Construction started in June, and Kingsville Roofing donated the roof.
