Speeding continues to be a problem across Windsor

Windsor police are again reminding drivers that excessive speed kills.

The traffic enforcement unit conducted a speeding initiative along the EC Row Expressway on Friday and issued 119 tickets. Police said the majority were for speeding, although three tickets were handed out for driving 50 kilometres per hour or more over the limit. Officials added those three drivers were charged with stunt driving.

Police are urging drivers to drive the speed limit.

"The message is simple. Please slow down and drive the posted speed limits," said Sergeant Steve Betteridge, public information officer. "It just may save your life."

Betteridge said he wants drivers to get back to basics and drive as they did back when they first passed their driver's licence test.

Betteridge added, "our roadways will be much safer for all of us to enjoy."
