Woman charged in Windsor armed robbery

A woman has been charged in connection with a downtown Windsor robbery.

Windsor police said it happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Wyandotte Street West and Bruce Avenue. A man flagged down a passing police cruiser and informed officers that a woman had demanded the property the man was carrying, then threatened him with a knife when he refused to turn it over.

Constable Talya Natyshak said officers soon observed the woman approaching the man from behind with the knife in hand and were able to arrest her without incident. The man was not physically hurt.

Alyssa Obirek, 24, of Windsor, is charged with robbery with a weapon. This charge has not been proven in court.
