If you're heading to the Ford Fireworks Monday night, be prepared to dodge a raindrop or two.
Environment Canada is calling for showers and thunderstorms for the evening, which may result in a postponement of the show if the rain is widespread or heavy enough. But meteorologist Peter Kimball tells BlackburnNewsWindsor.com that may not be the case.
"I don't really think it's a huge potential," said Kimball. "In other words, I'm not forecasting a large area or a very high probability of precipitation moving in and raining the whole thing out."
Kimball said it's too soon to tell how many showers or thunderstorms will affect the Windsor-Detroit area by showtime, if at all.
"There will be showers that will be localized," said Kimball. "Unfortunately it's impossible to predict at this point where they will be and what time they will be. They haven't developed yet. So, I would say there's a good chance that it [the fireworks] will work, but it's not a hundred per cent."
A rain date for the Ford Fireworks is Tuesday night. If it should come to that, Kimball said it will be dry, but muggy, with an expected low temperature of 20 C.
The show is set to begin at 9:55 p.m. In addition to the weather, information on street closures is also available.
