City delays Peche Island tours because of flooding

High water levels have forced the City of Windsor to delay the start of tours to Peche Island in the Detroit River.

The city issued a statement that said, "the second season of tours to Peche Island will be delayed due to high water levels, which are causing flooded trails on the island."

The first season kicked off last June and was very popular, but the flooding will not allow for a June kickoff this year.

Work is underway to address the flooding, and the city said once the conditions improve, tours will resume.

For those who have their own boat, the boat dock on Peche Island, washrooms, and pavilion are still open, but the trails are closed.
