The final numbers are in and the organizers of this year's Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix said the Sunday races drew the largest attendance since 2014.
A release from the organizers said 40,000 people came to Belle Isle on June 2. Another 25,000 attended on Friday, May 31, and while severe weather impacted numbers on Saturday, June 1, 30,000 people still passed through the gates.
It marked the seventh time in the last eight years attendance hit the 95,000 mark.

As for those watching the races on social media and television, the numbers improved. The doubleheader Sunday afternoon had the best combined Nielsen television rating in three years. A total of 1.2-million people watched the Dual II on NBC, a two per cent climb from 2018.
The Total Audience Delivery was 929,000 viewers across NBC, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. That is an increase of 10 per cent from 2018 when the races aired on ABC. The combined figures show the second-highest rated NTT IndyCar series event outside of the Indianapolis 500 so far this season.
This year's Grand Prixmiere gala raised $800,000 for the Belle Isle Conservancy and improvement projects on the island.
