UPDATE: Highway 3 in Kingsville reopened following crash

The Ontario Provincial Police has reopened a section of Highway 3 in Kingsville after a crash Friday morning.

The highway had been shut down for almost six hours in both directions between Belle River Road or County Road 27 and Division Road.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Constable Jim Root said a motorcycle collided head-on with a dump truck. The rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries. There was no word on the rider's condition Friday afternoon.

The OPP had asked drivers to avoid the area until investigators had completed their work. The road was reopened shortly before 4:30 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
