Dangerous driver nabbed in downtown Windsor

Windsor police have arrested a man for dangerous driving in a downtown parking lot.

Police said they received complaints recently about vehicles being driven in an unsafe manner and making unnecessary noise in and around the municipal parking lots near Ouellette Avenue and Riverside Drive.

The City Centre Patrol (CCP) Unit said it witnessed a white Lexus being driven dangerously with no concern for pedestrian and vehicle traffic, revving its engine and screeching tires in a parking lot on Tuesday night.

"The suspect vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed and was observed disobeying multiple red lights," police said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

Officers identified the driver and arrested a man on Mercer Street near Cataraqui Street.

The vehicle, which does not belong to the driver, was also located and seized.

The man's name has not been made public but he is charged with dangerous driving.

"Drivers are reminded that making unnecessary vehicle noise may also land you a ticket," police said.
