Elderly woman beaten on Ganatchio Trail dies

A 76-year-old woman has died more than 14 months after she was attacked on the Ganatchio Trail.

Multiple sources have told BlackburnNews.com 76-year-old Sarah Anne Widholm died over the weekend.

In October 2017, Widholm was walking along the trail when she was viciously beaten, leaving her with severe head injuries.

A month after the attack, Widholm's husband of 54 years, Alf, died suddenly.

Windsor police later charged 21-year-old Habibullah (Daniel) Ahmad with attempted murder.

The assault shocked many in the community, prompting Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens to hold a community walk in Widholm's honour a week later.

Six months later, another community walk on Earth Day drew Windsorites to come out and pick up garbage along the trail.

So far, funeral arrangements have not been publicly announced.
