The County of Essex is going to take a closer look at what is causing the asphalt to buckle on County Rd. 22 and Manning Rd.
Other roads such as Hwy. 3 also keep buckling.
So far this summer, officials have had to close Hwy. 3 because the pavement has buckled in the summer heat.
Tecumseh Deputy Mayor Joe Bachetti says the road is relatively new and it is not like there is anything unusual about summer heat in Windsor-Essex.
"We have to look perhaps at the standards of the asphalt," says Bachetti. "Who's there to check on that? Who's signing off on those contracts? Let's do our due diligence."
He introduced a motion at County Council Wednesday night asking administration to come back with a report on the damage.
Bachetti says pavement is buckling in one of the turning lanes on County Rd. 22 at Manning Rd. and he has noticed similar ruts appearing on the EC Row Exwy. and Huron Church Rd. in Windsor.
Bachetti says in addition to the increased cost of repairing the road; he is afraid it could cause an accident.
"As drivers, the last thing you need to be worrying about is the road. That should be safe for you to be driving on," he says.
Bachetti hopes the report comes back to council soon.
County Council meets again on August 15.
