Charges Laid After Vicious Attack In Windsor

A 45-year-old Windsor man has been charged following a vicious assault during broad daylight.

Windsor police say a man with an expandable baton assaulted a victim near Erie St. and Elsmere Ave. Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the victim was bleeding from the head and had serious injuries when officers arrived.

A suspect was arrested on Marentette Ave. just south of Wyandotte Ave. but not before being tasered for refusing to comply and advancing towards officers with the baton.

Police say the man walked up to the victim and began the assault. He only walked away when the victim yelled for a witness to call police.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer with a weapon.
