West Nile Virus Found In Windsor-Essex

A mosquito pool in Windsor-Essex has tested positive for West Nile virus.

This is the first sign of the virus in Windsor-Essex this year that could seriously infect or kill humans.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says so far in 2018, no local human cases of West Nile virus have been identified.

Residents are being urged to continue protecting themselves against mosquitoes by eliminating standing water and avoiding mosquito bites by using insect repellents that contain DEET, Icaridin or other approved ingredients on clothing and exposed skin.
