Wind Shift Reduces Ongoing Flood Risk

The Essex Region Conservation Authority says a change in wind direction has reduced the risk of ongoing flooding in Leamington.

A flood warning remains in effect for the west coast of Pelee Island.

The authority says forecasts indicate the west winds are shifting to the west-northwest which reduces the risk of damaging waves for Leamington but remains a concern for the west coast of Pelee Island.

The public is advised to avoid areas where flooding is occurring. People who must access these areas are advised to use extreme caution when travelling through flood waters. Flowing water, standing water, and waves overtopping shoreline breakwalls can be extremely dangerous.

All vehicular traffic should stay out of these areas.
