SIU Concludes Man Stabbed Himself Several Times

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has wrapped up its investigation into an incident involving Windsor police in which a suspect stabbed himself several times.

A police officer was called to a home on Riverside Dr. W near Crawford Ave. on April 17, 2017.

At first, the man in the home refused to open the door for the officer. The officer had to convince him, and when he did, the man was taken to the hospital with serious leg injuries.

The SIU assigned three investigators and two forensic investigators to look into the incident.

SIU Director Tony Loparco has concluded there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against the police officer, and that the man had stabbed himself.
