Windsor Man Charged With Sexual Assault

A Windsor man is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl and holding her against her will.

Windsor police say a 16-year-old girl met a man while walking in the downtown core Monday night and was offered a warm place to stay. The girl agreed and the two went to a home on Bruce Ave. near Wyandotte St. W.

Police say the girl was sexually assaulted there a short time later and was being forced to stay at the house. The pair left the house several times over the next few days but the girl told police she was constantly in fear for her safety.

The girl was able to report the incident to police on Thursday. She was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The man was arrested at the home on Bruce Ave. around 3:30pm on Thursday without incident.

The 23-year-old man is charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.

The WPS Major Crimes Division is handling the investigation.

Anyone with information on this matter is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
