HDGH Improving Patient Satisfaction

Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is looking at ways to increase patient satisfaction.

For the last three months, each new patient at the hospital meets with a quality advocate and is given a survey to assess the level of care received as they transition to the new setting.

"Hoping to make their journey over here and their first few days better, increase the experience for them and hopefully start them off on their journey in more of a positive way," says Chief of Staff Andrea Steen.

She says this has given them new insight and they plan to make some changes.

"What we're finding out is that we need to give them a certain amount of information that we haven't been doing and we hope that's going to make them have a better experience," says Steen.

She says they hope this feedback will improve patient care overall and reflect on the scores patients give the facility in provincial surveys.
