Clinic Seeker Matches Patients To Services With Shortest Wait Times

An app developed right here in Windsor helps residents find a clinic with the right services and shortest wait times.

"The hope is to reduce some of the strain on the emergency department resources and gives individuals a tool for other options for health care facilities," says app founder Lisa Jacobs.

The app, Clinic Seeker, shows all the urgent care clinics, walk-in clinics or nurse practitioner led clinics in your area. It also shows the clinics' hours, contact information and on-site services.

Jacobs says the app can even show current wait times with crowd sourcing information.

"If one clinic has an hour wait and someone is in there saying that they've been there for an hour and in another clinic someone else is saying they've been there for five minutes, it just gives someone another option if they are in the same general area," says Jacobs.

She says the more people who use the app and actively record their wait times the more useful the app becomes to the community.

"In the last few months the downloads have spiked as well as the users participating . We've got a lot of positive feedback on it," says Jacobs.

The app is available free for download for both Apple and Android. Currently, it works across the province of Ontario.
