Humane Society Issues Warning About Possible Dog Theft

The Windsor-Essex Humane Society has put out a warning to Harrow and McGregor area dog owners after several dogs went missing in the area.

Executive Director Melanie Coulter says they can't say for sure that the dogs have been stolen but they've received multiple reports of missing dogs from a concentrated area.

"There were a number of them in a fairly small geographic area, over a pretty short period of time, combined with a report that appeared to describe someone attempting to steal a dog, we really just wanted to put out a warning just in case. Certainly we're not saying for certain something is happening but there is enough concern that we wanted to make dog owners aware," says Coulter.

Coulter says they have contacted Essex OPP and they are conducting an investigation.

Coulter says most of the dogs were in their owner's backyard before they went missing.
