Amherstburg Basement Fire at $100,000

Investigators say a basement fire in Amherstburg caused $100,000 in damage.

The Amherstburg Fire Department says it happened around 10:30am Saturday at a house on Texas Rd near Knobb Hill Dr.

Two stations responded to the call, and the fire was quickly put out. All occupants escaped, and there were no reports of injuries.

The investigation determined that an electric heat gun was being used to thaw a frozen pipe in the basement.
