Outbreak Declared At Windsor Regional Hospital

Officials at Windsor Regional Hospital have declared a flu outbreak at its Ouellette Campus.

A release from the hospital says there are two confirmed and two probable cases of influenza B on one ward.

7 Medical will remain open to new admissions with limited transfers. Patients on the ward who are showing symptoms will be confined to their rooms as much as possible and will have to wear a mask if they move outside their bed space.

Patients who are not showing symptoms who need to be transferred will have to adhere to precautions to prevent the spread of the flu for a minimum of three days.

All the patients are being offered Tamiflu, an anti-viral medication used to treat influenza A and B.

Visitors will be allowed but will be limited to two per patient.
