Spits Top Spirit In Home Opener

The Windsor Spitfires scored a 3-1 victory in their home opener against the Saginaw Spirit on Thursday.

Saginaw drew first blood with a goal near the end of the first period, but Luke Boka scored the Spitfires 12:36 into the second to tie things up.

Luke Kutkevicius and Jake Smith scored back-to-back goals in the final two minutes of the game to put Windsor in the lead for the win.

Spitfires goaltender Michael DiPietro made 26 saves and Windsor out shot Saginaw 35-27.

The Spitfires now head to London to take on the Knights on Friday at 7:30pm.
