Fire at Windsor Plastics Factory

Windsor firefighters responded to a Canada Day fire at a plastics company.

Windsor Fire and Rescue was called around 1:30pm Saturday to PM Plastics Ltd at 2900 St. Etienne Blvd, and staff in the building were evacuated.

No fire was visible but the building had to be ventilated for heavy smoke. Investigators determined that the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.

There were no reports of injuries but electrical damage is estimated at $100,000. Damage to the structure itself is at $100,000.

The fire remains under investigation.
