Man in Custody After Windsor Standoff

Windsor Police have a man in custody following a standoff near downtown.

Officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Windsor Ave around 5pm Saturday on a report of a shot fired. A man with a weapon was apparently seen firing a gun on the porch of the residence before entering one of the units in the multiplex residence, police say.

After police found spent casings outside the building, additional personnel were called and the block was cordoned off.

Windsor Ave was closed for about two hours between Elliott St and Erie St East as police tried to speak to the individual.

Police finally made contact with the suspect shortly after 9pm. The individual was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported.

The 34-year-old man will be facing weapons related charges, according to police.
