Museum Windsor is being recognized for its efforts in delivering heritage-based programming.
It has received the Russell K. Cooper Award from the Ontario Historical Society.
The society says it was impressed by the innovation and creative problem solving involved in Museum Windsor's $6-million expansion, which linked the Art Gallery of Windsor and the Chimczuk Museum.
It felt that it was important that museum staff worked to make sure public consultation was part of the expansion process, also collecting opinions from University of Windsor professors, local historians, members of First Nations, and black history experts.
The award was recently presented at the Ontario Historical Society's Annual General Meeting at York University in Toronto.
