Online Video Leads Police To Vehicle Theft Suspect

The Windsor Police Service has tracked down a stolen Jeep and arrested a suspected thief after a video of a man driving the vehicle was posted to social media.

Officers say an investigation started around 7:30am Monday, after a resident noticed his Jeep missing and realized he had left a spare key in the vehicle's centre console overnight.

The victim reached out through social media to see if he could track down the thief and received a number of responses, including a video of a man riding in his Jeep.

That video was then forwarded to the police and officers were able to identify a suspect.  By Tuesday, they had located the vehicle on St. Luke Rd. near Wyandotte St. and arrested the suspect nearby.

A 30-year-old Windsor man now faces four charges, including possession of stolen property over $5,000.
