Construction Starts Soon On Massive Reservoir

Construction on a new 35-million litre water reservoir at the corner of Riverside Dr. E and George Ave. is expected to start this spring.

Right now the property is a city park, and once the construction is complete, the land will be restored.

Residents living nearby should receive a reminder from Enwin soon about the project if they have not already.

Enwin says it needs the reservoir to ensure a reliable source of safe drinking water. Right now, the existing reservoir at the A.H. Weeks Water Treatment Plant is just a single cell reservoir. Should it need repairs, Enwin says it would be challenged to provide water to the city, so the new reservoir will allow it to supply Windsor even if Reservoir D is out of service.

The project is expected to cost $25-million and should be complete by the fall of 2018.
