Amherstburg is updating its smoking bylaw to be more in line with the rest of Windsor and Essex County.
It's the last municipality in the region to include all sports fields and public property like beaches and parks in its smoking bylaw.
Mayor Aldo Dicarlo says there will be designated smoking areas outside municipal buildings like the Libro Centre.
"We tried to recognize the fact that it's not illegal to smoke so some people are going to need to smoke. If you're at a facility like that you might be there all day and we didn't them to walk all the way to the road to have a cigarette," says DiCarlo.
The new smoking regulations include traditional tobacco products as well as e-cigarettes, and hookahs.
