Matthew Brush is pleading guilty to second degree murder in the death of Windsor woman Cassandra Kaake.

The 28-year-old LaSalle native is also pleading guilty to arson as part of his submission on Monday.
Brush was charged with first degree murder after Kaake — who was seven months pregnant at the time — was found dead in her home on Benjamin Ave. in the city on December 11, 2014. The scene of her death was described by one police official as one of the most disturbing he had seen in his career.
Five to seven days have been set aside for sentencing, beginning on January 23, 2017.
Brush remains in custody until the hearing.
The father of Kaake's unborn child, Jeff Durham, has been pushing to have the Canadian judicial system recognize his soon-to-be-born child was also killed and allow criminal charges to be laid.
The unborn baby's name was Molly.
