Amherstburg Woman Wins $50,000

An Amherstburg woman plans to share a $50,000 windfall with her children after scratching a winning Instant Crossword ticket.

Suzanne Allair bought the ticket at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Sandwich St. in Amherstburg. When she first arrived, she thought she was out of luck.

"I noticed there were no crossword tickets in the display," she says. "I asked the retailer if there were any crossword tickets available and it turned out a new batch had just arrived. I'm so happy I asked because my winning ticket was from that batch."

At first, she thought she had won $10,000.

"I was uncovering a lot of words so I flipped the ticket over to see if I won anything," says Allair. "I counted the number of words and realized I had uncovered 11 words which means I won $50,000."

Allair also plans to go on a Caribbean cruise and buy a boat.
