Two goals for the winning side in the annual Blue and White game for Windsor Spitfires forward Aaron Luchuk has it looking like he hasn't missed a step after netting a career-high 27 goals last season.
Luchuk is feeling good as he prepares for his fourth season with the Spitfires.
"Goal scoring is one of those things you're either hot and things are going in or they're not, so it's nice to get a couple goals early on here and hopefully that will continue on throughout the season," says Luchuk.
The 19-year-old Kingston native finished third in team goal-scoring last season and was a top five scorer for the Spits.
Luchuk says it's an exciting year for the Spitfires as the city is hosting the 2017 Memorial Cup in May and he's itching to get going.
"I think everyone's getting into the full swing now and it's going to be a fun year," says Luchuk. "Excited obviously, it's a huge year in Windsor with the [Memorial] Cup and stuff coming. I think everyone's ready and kind of looking forward to get started."
Team Blue beat Team White 5-1 in the annual training camp game and it gave a chance for the fans to see the Spitfires back in action.
"Nice to see a bunch of people come out and crowd support is obviously huge for us down the stretch," says Luchuk. "It's awesome to all the people out there and hopefully they continue coming throughout the year."
The first pre-season game for the Spitfires is on Friday in Flint against the Firebirds. Puck-drop is set for 7pm at the Flint Iceland Arena.
