Major Donation At Erie Shores Hospice

The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County is putting a wrap on its Erie Shores capital campaign, thanks to a $1-million donation.

Laura Lemmon with the hospice says Henry and Lina Iacobelli have been supporters of the organization for a few years now.

"They've seen friends and family members go through their end of life, some in hospital, some in hospice care," she explains. "When they did see that first loved one go through hospice care in Windsor, they were amazed by the attention and level of care they received, and they knew that they wanted to do something to help support hospice."

Lemmon says everyone at the hospice was taken aback by the size of the donation, which lifted the Erie Shores capital campaign to its goal of $6-million dollars.

Money from future donations can now go solely to assisting with hospice operations, instead of being split between that and capital.

Patients moved into Leamington's new 10-bed hospice back in April.
