Neglected Dog Has Infected Ears Amputated (GALLERY)

The Windsor-Essex County Humane Society hopes someone comes forward with information after a horrifying case of animal neglect.

It got a call about a stray dog on Pelissier St. between Elliott and Erie St. W last Saturday.

When they examined the cocker spaniel type dog, they found she had severely necrotic infections in both ears. It looked like they had been infected for some time. Despite intensive treatment, the amount of tissue damage was so severe; a veterinarian had to amputate them.

The dog appears to be about one-year-old and is female.

Humane Society officials have named her Deema and ask anyone with information to call their investigations department at 519-966-5751 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).

Anyone who wants to donate money to help pay for the cost of Deema's medical treatment can go online.
